TENNESSEE SEPTEMBER UNEMPLOYMENT UP SLIGHTLY
Tennessee’s unemployment rate for the month of September was up slightly from August’s rate from 4.4 to 4.6 percent. According to state Labor Commissioner Burns Phillips that’s still lower than the national average of 5 percent. Over the past year, Tennessee’s unemployment rate decreased from 5.6 percent to 4.6 percent while the national rate declined from 5.1 percent to 5.0 percent.
