TENNESSEE TEENS ALLEGEDLY PLANNED SHOOTING AT FRANKLIN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL

NASHVILLE, Tenn.–Two teens have been arrested by law enforcement officials following threats to carry out a shooting at Franklin County High School.
The two teens were apprehended following a joint investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Winchester Police, and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant District Attorney Steve Bount says both students are now in custody and are currently involved in a juvenile detention hearing.
The following statement was released by Franklin County Schools:
“On January 12, Franklin County High School administration was notified of a potential incident at Franklin County High School involving students. Local law enforcement, the FBI, and an assistant district attorney were contacted to investigate the concern.
At this point, the issue has been turned over to the law enforcement agencies. We do not have any concerns for the well-being and safety of our students and staff, and school will continue to operate as normal.”
The Winchester Police Department issued the following statement:

“The Winchester Police Department received notification yesterday about a possible threat being planned at FCHS. After appearing to have a credible threat, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Franklin County School System were notified and I did request assistance from the resident agents for the Federal Bureau of Investigation to assist our detectives and the Sheriff’s Department in the investigation in order to help expedite the investigation and bring it to a quick conclusion. Two individuals are in custody and charged, with the assistance of the office of the 12th Judicial District Attorney General, in the Juvenile Court of Franklin County. At this time we are confident, that the threat has been eliminated and our schools are safe.  This investigation is ongoing, and any comments and/or press releases in regard to this investigation are referred to the 12th District Attorney General J. Michael Taylor’s Office.
Let me reiterate, Sheriff Fuller and I are confident that our schools are safe from any threats related to this matter. We want to thank all those that assisted in this investigation and especially the full cooperation we received from FCHS Principal Dr. Roger Alsup and the Franklin County School System.
