THE GUEST HO– USE AT GRACELAND OPENS ITS DOORS

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) – The biggest Memphis hotel project since before Elvis was born is now open at Graceland.  The Guest House at Graceland officially opened its doors to the public on Thursday, but WMC Action News 5 got an exclusive tour ahead of the grand opening, and now you can see exactly what awaits at The Guest House at Graceland.

The $90 million hotel consists of 450 rooms, 20 of which are suites. Guests will experience live entertainment in the lobby bar six nights a week, whether it be an acoustic guitar player or a piano player.  The ceiling in the hotel’s lobby mimics one of Elvis’ favorite jumpsuits.  Another lobby, created for the guests who arrive on the bus tours, is a replica of the grand staircase at Graceland. The chandelier was even made by the same person who created the original, which still hangs in Graceland today.

The hotel houses two restaurants–including a fine dining restaurant named after Elvis’ Aunt Delta, who lived at Graceland even after his death in 1977. The second restaurant is a bar and grill that caters to the more laid-back crowd. It offers several televisions and a full bar. A coffee shop called Shake, Rattle, & Go will give guests a caffeine jolt to start their day.

Each restaurant has its own kitchen, separate from the kitchen that caters events in the banquet hall.  The grand ballroom is just shy of 11,000 square feet. It can fit 1,720 people banquet style and 1,200 people theater style. It can be used for a variety of events including corporate functions and dinners.  An extravagant theater boasts 464 seats and will screen Elvis movies throughout opening weekend. After the grand opening, it will be used for intimate concerts and corporate events.  The ballroom has four break-out rooms that are named after the four hall of fames Elvis was inducted into: blues, country, gospel, and rock & roll.  The guestrooms each feature two queen beds or a king-sized bed, a large flat-screen TV, a bathroom with dual shower heads, and custom lotions and shampoos.  The decor throughout the hotel has the same theme: Elvis, specifically showing off his variety of outfits and style.

It will cost as low as $168 to stay at The Guest House at Graceland during its grand opening special, but several other special packages are also available.
