TRACTOR-TRAILER FIRE AND HO– USE BLAZE REPORTED IN CUMBERLAND CO.
Cumberland County firefighters were busy this morning on calls. The first was at the 318 westbound mile marker of I-40 when the back of a tractor-trailer caught fire. A bearing went out and caused both rear axles to catch fire that spread to the trailer hauling pallets. A couple of hours later, crews responded to the corner of Highway 70 East and Swing Loop in front of the Westel Volunteer Fire Department for a house blaze. The residence sustained significant smoke damage from the fire, which started in the bathroom. No injuries were reported in either incident.
