TRAFFIC STOP TURNS INTO “POT” BUST
A traffic stop for a light violation turned into a drug bust by Crossville Police earlier this week. Officers stopped a 2002 Chevy Malibu on Elmore Rd. and the driver, 21-year-old Ezequiel Sanchez and a passenger appeared to be in a nervous state. Sanchez denied a consent search of the vehicle but a K-9 Officer hit on the odor of drugs. A search turned up 2 small bags of marijuana that were packaged for resale and hidden in the passenger seat upholstery. Both the drugs and $160 in cash was seized. A warrant was obtained for a search of the suspect’s cell phone which turned up messages indicating the sale of narcotics. Sanchez was charged with possession of marijuana for resale.
