TWO ACCIDENTS AT NEAR THE SAME TIME IN CONSTRUCTION AREA ON INTERSTATE 40
Two accidents took place on Interstate 40 in Monterey at the same place and nearly the same time Tuesday (July 11, 2017). According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 1995 Peterbilt driven by 31-year-old Jesse Mills of Bonneau, South Carolina was westbound when he went through a directional sign and barrels into a construction area near mile marker 301. Mills was charged with failing to exercise due care and falsifying his record of duty status. The second accident involved a 2012 Ford Focus driven by 58-year-old Franklin Stevenson of Crossville. Troopers say Stevenson struck part of an electronic directional sign that landed on the road from the first accident. No injuries were reported in either accident.
