TWO ACCIDENTS RESULTS IN TRAFFIC JAMS ON INTERSTATE 40
Traffic was gridlocked in two places on Interstate 40 in Roane County this afternoon (Thursday, September 28, 2017) stemming from separate accidents. The first took place at the 347 mile marker when a tractor-trailer hauling detergent hit the side of a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Macayan Wyrick of Kingston getting on the exit ramp. Wyrick and the unnamed driver of the tractor-trailer were transported to Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge for treatment of injuries. The second took place when a vehicle rolled over at the 355 mile marker. The driver of the vehicle, Phillip Branson of Kingston, was ejected from the vehicle. Branson was taken to UT Medical Center for treatment of injuries. The accidents are under investigation by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
