TWRA WARNS RESIDENTS OF COYOTE ATTACK
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said a sickly coyote attacked a homeowner’s Great Pyrenees dog in their yard. The dog’s owners barricaded the coyote between a door and the carport until officers from TWRA arrived.
TWRA said the coyote was captured and examined. Officials found that the animal has exhibiting abnormal behavior and had loss of fear for humans. Officers euthanized the animal.
After further evaluation, TWRA found that the animal was in poor health, had excessive hair loss and was extremely malnourished.
TWRA said the Great Pyrenees sustained no injuries in the attack.
Officials urged the public to take precautions to keep wildlife from eating pets’ food that is left outdoors. TWRA advised people not to leave pets’ food out for extended periods of time, especially overnight. Once pets are finished eating, remove the food to keep wildlife from entering your yard.
