UPPER CUMBERLAND LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES RECEIVE GRANTS
On Wednesday, two law enforcement agencies in the Upper Cumberland Region received sizable grants from the Tennessee Dept. of Safety and Homeland Security and the Tennessee Highway Safety Office. TDSHS Commissioner David Purkey delivered an address along with THSO Director Vic Donoho at the Crossville Memorial Airport as Crossville Police, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputies and Tennessee Highway Patrol Troopers gathered for the presentation. Cumberland County Sheriff Casey Cox received $35,000 for the sheriff’s dept. while Chief David Beaty received $20,000 for the City Police Dept. Both men said that the grant money would go toward officer presence, checkpoints, and saturations. The presentation was part of a 27-county visit and over $3 million in grant money awards.
