VIDEO: PARKED MT. JULIET PATROL CAR HIT WHILE RESPONDING TO CAR FIRE

 

MT. JULIET, Tenn. – One lane of Interstate 40 West in Mt. Juliet was blocked for a short time after driver hit a parked Mt. Juliet police patrol car. According to officials with the Mt. Juliet Police Department, an unoccupied patrol vehicle was hit while officers and firefighters were on the scene of a pickup truck bed fire on Interstate 40 West.  It happened around 5 p.m. Four police vehicles and one fire engine responded to the truck fire.  One of the officers had just gotten out of his patrol car and was walking toward the truck when his car was hit by an out-of-control car.

The vehicle that hit the patrol car pulled over about 450 feet after impact. No one was injured during the incident.  Mt. Juliet police department policy requires an outside agency must investigate any crash involving a department vehicle. Therefore, the Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
