What is the most dangerous mile marker of I-40 in Cumberland County when it comes to fatal accidents? According to a report released to 105.7 News from the Tennessee Department of Safety’s TITAN system published Monday, it is a three-way tie, with two each at the 312 (near Plateau Road Exit), 326 (just west of Crab Orchard Exit) and 335 (between Crab Orchard and Westel) mile markers. Sixteen people were killed in vehicle crashes in Cumberland County from 2012 to July 31, 2018.

As far as incapacitating injuries, 55 were reported from 2012 to July 31, 2018. The most dangerous mile marker in this category was the 334, with six injuries, followed by the 311 with four and the 316 with three.

In the non-incapacitating injury category, 93 were reported from 2012 to July 31, 2018. The most dangerous mile marker in this category was the 331, with eight injuries and the 316 with five.

And in the final category of possible injuries, 165 were recorded from 2012 to July 31, 2018. The mile marker that saw the most was a tie between the 308 and 316 with eight each, followed by the 306 with six injuries.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol reminds motorists on I-40 to follow the speed limit, drive with caution and always use seat belts.
