White County Sheriff Odie Shoupe has won the first battle of a legal case which he filed against the county in order to increase funding for additional staffing and equipment. A judge denied the county’s motion for a dismissal Friday on the grounds that the lawsuit was not sworn or verified originally. The judge stated that the statute did not require that technicality and therefore overruled the motion. The sheriff filed the lawsuit in August 2016.
