WIFE OF MAN SHOT AND KILLED IN WHITE COUNTY PURSUIT WANTS ANSWERS FROM TBI

The widow of a man who was shot and killed after a pursuit in White County last week is demanding answers from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation regarding her husbands cause of death. Authorities chased a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Michael Zennie Dial II for nearly 20 miles from Dekalb County into White County. Officers say Dial rammed several police cruisers during the chase. Three officers were injured as a result. When the tires on Dial’s truck went flat on Highway 111 in Sparta, the TBI says an officer from the White County Sheriff’s Department and Sparta Police Department each fired shots at Dial’s truck. The truck went off the road and Dial was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Dial’s wife, Robyn Spainhoward, said she spoke to the medical examiners office today who told her Dial had been shot in the head. Spainhoward questioned why spike strips were not used to stop her husband. She added she was not sure of why Dial would run from the police.

The TBI has not released the official report of the cause of death of Dial.
