WINDY AND WARM TUESDAY

Quite a few things to talk about. Tuesday is going to be windy and warm with temperatures climbing into the low to mid 70s and a south wind gusting to over 30 miles an hour. Showers and thunderstorms are likely Tuesday night, the greatest threat of severe weather will be well to our West but we could have some heavy thunderstorms near midnight Tuesday night. Wednesday is going to be a much cooler day but clearing Skies and the high temperature only near 50 degrees. Frost and freeze conditions are possible Wednesday night with temperatures dropping into the upper 20s. Thursday partly cloudy skies and a high near 60. This week we Mark the anniversary of two Major weather events in Cumberland County. April 3rd 1974 a massive outbreak of tornadoes hit the Eastern United States including Tennessee. 10 people were killed in Putnam County and 7 in Fentress. These tornadoes were EF-4 with winds over 200 miles per hour. A tornado just after 11:30 at night touched down near Pleasant Hill and traveled Northeast toward Mayland, 28 people were injured in Cumberland County. April 2nd and 3rd 1987 we had the largest snowfall on record for the month of April. It was a once-in-a-lifetime event for this time of year as nothing has ever come close in over 60 years. 6 to 8 inches of snow fell across Cumberland County on these days and I remember snow covering up flowers that were in bloom. A week later we were back into the 70s.
