An accident involving two motorcycles on Highway 70 East in Putnam County resulted in three injuries. Officers say a vehicle pulled out of a restaurant parking lot onto the highway and in front of the motorcyclists. The first motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the car. That collision caused the passenger to be thrown from the motorcycle and over the car. The second motorcyclist wasnt able to stop in time and slide underneath the car. The car was driven by 78-year-old Donald Draper and occupied by 72-year-old Shirley Draper, both from Putnam County. Neither was injured. The first motorcycle was operated by 51-year-old Jackie Howard. His passenger was his wife, 53-year-old Rebecca Howard. The second motorcycle was operated by 26 year-old Mathew Howard. All three on the motorcycles were from Overton County. Both motorcyclists were taken to Cookeville Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Mrs. Howard was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. This crash remains under investigation.
