ALL POTENTIAL CANDIDATES QUALIFY FOR MAY PRIMARY ELECTION IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

The May Primary Election is about 6 weeks away and the Cumberland County Election Commission says that all potential candidates have turned in their qualifying papers. The deadline was 12 Noon Thursday. The biggest race on the ballot will be for county mayor with seven people running. They are Tim Claflin, Allen Foster, JC Hancock, Randall Kidwell, Doug Scarlett, Ligue Wisdom and Danny Wyatt. Sandy Davis is also running as an Independent candidate in the race for county mayor. She will be on the August ballot. The office of County Road Superintendent will have three candidates. They are incumbent Scott Blaylock, Stanley Hall and Kevin Music. There will be two running for office of Circuit Court Clerk. They are Jessica Burgess and Nick Neal. Those offices running unopposed are County Sheriff Casey Cox, County Clerk Jules Bryson, Register of Deeds Judy Graham Swallows, and County trustee Kim Tollett Wyatt. The May Primary will be held on May 1st. Early voting will run from Wed. April 11- Thursday, April 26.
