A Florida judge ordered this afternoon the suspect in a deadly shooting rampage at a high school will be held without bond on 17 counts of premeditated murder. Nineteen-year-old Nikolas Cruz was wearing an orange jumpsuit with his hands cuffed at his waist during the this afternoon hearing. Cruz is accused of opening fire yesterday at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, killing 17 people. Authorities offered no immediate details about Cruz or his possible motive, except to say he’d been kicked out of the high school, which has about 3,000 students. Students who knew him described a volatile teenager whose strange behavior had caused others to end friendships with him. The leader of a white nationalist militia said Cruz was a member of his group and participated in paramilitary drills in Tallahassee. Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi says she has ‘no doubt’ prosecutors will seek the death penalty for Cruz if he is convicted.
