AUTHORITIES FIND NO EXPLOSIVE DEVICES DURING A SWEEP OF RUTHERFORD COUNTY SCHOOL

Authorities have given the all-clear after a bomb threat was phoned into a Rutherford County high school Friday morning. Police say that an Oakland High School student phoned in the bomb threat Friday morning resulting in officials closing the school down as a precaution. The suspect is in custody and charged with making a false report. Several officers made a sweep of the facility and found no explosive devices. School leaders say that they had no choice but to close school instead of having students and faculty stand outside, potentially for hours. Buses were told to return students home and those that had already arrived at the school were sent home. Officials say that the bomb threat was not associated with the white supremacist rally planned for Murfreesboro Saturday nor did it play a part in the decision to close the school.
