BREAKING NEWS: CUMBERLAND COUNTY MAYOR KENNETH CAREY JR. WILL NOT SEEK REELECTION

BREAKING NEWS:

At a press conference Monday afternoon, Cumberland County Mayor Kenneth Carey Jr. revealed that he will not seek reelection in 2018. Amid an audience of county residents, officials and well-wishers, Mayor Carey said that he wanted to dispel the several rumors and non-truths going around. He talked of first running as a conservative in 2010 and spoke of all the work that his administration has accomplished in that time: from better management of the county’s debt to working with the state, City of Crossville and Chamber of Commerce to promote better economic development in the area. Mayor Carey said that he and his wife Lynn decided in 2009 that he would only serve two terms, if allowed. He then said that he will retire at the end of this term. He said that he ” looked forward to his final year in office, and that he would be able to look back and know that Cumberland County is in better shape now than when it was in 2010 when he came in.”
