The TBI is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Cosby, Tennessee that took place Sunday night. Authorities say they located Carme Beau Rongione, a suspect with several outstanding warrants, on Middle Creek Rd. Rongione ran into a heavily wooded area and allegedly threatened a police officer and his K-9 partner with a machete that he had unsheathed. According to reports, as the suspect swung at the officer, the officer pulled his weapon and fired a shot, striking Rongione in the abdomen. The wounded suspect was airlifted to a local hospital but died shortly after arriving. The officer was not injured.  Rongione had a long criminal history and had been classified as “violent” on the TBI Sex Offender Registry.
