Cumberland County Deputies have charged a man with child abuse. A relative of a man living at a Dave Garrett Road home reported to authorities that three children of various ages, were being abused and that marijuana was also being used in the home. The Dept. of Children’s Services was alerted to the situation and a representative joined deputies in the investigation. The children all had heavy bruising to the buttocks and legs and appeared to have been hit with a board. 21-year-old Stephen Edward Randall told the officers that he had used a paddle and a paddle that had been broken in two pieces was found along with a bag of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. Randall was charged with three counts of child abuse along with simple possession.
