One person died as the result of a single vehicle accident near Athens Tuesday morning. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says that the car struck a guardrail near mile marker 56 on Interstate 75 around 6 AM. Authorities say that one of two occupants of the vehicle died. There was no word on the other person’s injuries and no names were released.
