The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation today (Tuesday, December 5, 2017) released the identity of the body that was found in a mobile home fire in Fentress County last Saturday (December 2, 2017). According to Leslie Earhart with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, fire crews found the body of 50-year-old Melissa Durham in the remains of the residence in the 1,000 block of Maynard Drive in Grimsley. A cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. Sources indicate that officers learned that a vehicle that was supposed to be at the residence was missing. The vehicle was later discovered in Morgan County operated by 47-year-old Jonathan Smith of Morgan County. He was arrested on drug charges out of Morgan County and on outstanding warrants in Scott County. Authorities are not commenting at this time if Smith has any relation to the fatal fire. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
