LAW RESPONDS TO REPORTED DISTURBANCE AT ROANE ACADEMY

Several Roane County sheriffs deputies and Rockwood police officers were called to The Roane Academy teen re-habilitating center last night (October 10, 2017) just after 7pm for a disturbance. Roane Academy officials say their fire alarm experienced a mechanical issue from condensation.  Per their protocol, academy staff escorted all residents to the facility’s gymnasium where a fight broke out between two residents. The two youth in question were quickly restrained by academy personnel and released from restraints after they deescalated. All residents were safely escorted outside with the exception of three youth who remained in the gymnasium. Three academy residents in the gymnasium became verbally aggressive with sheriff’s department personnel. In response, deputies handcuffed all three youth and tased one who was non-complaint with their requests. All other residents were escorted back to the dorms without incident. Roane Academy said their staff followed protocol and maintained safety within the facility throughout this episode. This is not the first time law officials have been called to the facility as numerous calls have been recorded over the course of the facilities operations. Omni Visions is the key operator of the facility which houses trouble teens from all across the country to rehab them back into society.
