ARREST MADE AFTER HIGH SPEED CHASE AND ACCIDENT
A Cumberland County man is facing charges following a high-speed chase with officers. According to the arrest report from the sheriff’s office, a deputy observed a Chevy pickup driven by 27-year-old John Collin Phipps of Crossville allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed on Taylor’s Chapel Road. As the officer attempted to stop Phipps, he allegedly sped off and nearly hit a vehicle driven by an off duty deputy head on. Phillps later lost control, ran off the road, struck a tree and rolled several times. A female passenger in the truck was transported to Cumberland Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Phipps was arrested for reckless endangerment, evading arrest, violating bond conditions and driving on a revoked/suspended license.
