LIVINGSTON FIRE CHIEF SAYS HARDWARE FIRE IS NOT “SUSPICIOUS IN NATURE”

It’s been a week since a massive fire took out a Livingston hardware store. Fire Chief Rocky Dial says that looking at preliminary reports, they do not believe the fire was of a suspicious nature. Several area fire departments, including Cumberland County, were called in to battle the blaze which consumed Winningham’s Hardware. Chief Dial says that it will take a few weeks to receive the final report but he does say that bomb and arson squads have been involved in the investigation and that there is no evidence of foul play. The fire was rough to manage and put out said Dial, due to combustible agents such as gas/oil mixtures, chemicals and paint. Firefighters had to use special caution, particularly when live ammunition began firing-off. The chief says that spent cartridges were discovered as far away as 200-300 feet from the building.
