MORE DEATHS FROM HEPATITIS A OUTBREAK REPORTED IN KENTUCKY

Kentucky’s hepatitis A outbreak isn’t showing signs of slowing down, as more deaths and cases are being reported. The Kentucky Department for Public Health says there are now 1,094 cases and eight deaths from the outbreak some are calling the worst in the U.S. Fifty-four percent of all Kentucky counties have now reported at least one case after 18 counties reported new cases during the first week of July. Jefferson County has the most cases with 525 reported, while Fayette County has only six reported cases, despite being the second-largest county in Kentucky. Other areas seeing a large number of cases include northeast Kentucky counties and Montgomery County, which have higher incident rates than Jefferson County.
