NEW RULES FOR SPRING BREAK IN PANAMA CITY BEACH

Law enforcement agencies are working hard to remind locals and visitors of the rules that apply this spring break season in Panama City Beach, Florida. Panama City Beach Police Chief Drew Whitman and Bay County Sheriff Tommy Ford say they’re glad Panama City Beach is a popular vacation destination but also say they have zero tolerance for criminal behavior. The rules this March 2018 are as follows:

1. Drinking alcoholic beverages on the sandy beaches, right of ways and parking lots is prohibited.

2. Alcohol sales at bars and restaurants will end at 2 a.m., instead of 4 a.m.

3. Anyone under 21 can’t be inside any establishments serving alcohol after midnight, except active duty military personnel with identification in the unincorporated areas of Bay County.

4. Law enforcement officers can put a stop to any house parties which are defined as a party at a residence where minors can find access to alcohol or a party causing noise, litter, traffic or any other disturbance.

5. Digging holes deeper than two feet on the sandy beaches is also prohibited.

6. It’s illegal to operate a rented scooter overnight.

“The county passed these rules first and then the city did back a few years ago… It’s all in effect, the county and the city have the same rules,” Panama City Beach Mayor Mike Thomas said. Shell Island however, is not impacted by these rules. Again, the rules kick off at midnight on March 1, 2018 and run through the end of the month. City officials say breaking them, whether you’re a local or a visitor, could lead to a citation or an arrest.
