OUTSIDE BURNING NOT RECOMMENDED IN AREA

State emergency officials say the combination of near record temperatures, dry conditions outside and windy conditions could and has led to many field fires in the area. The danger will increase today (Saturday, April 15, 2017) and tomorrow (Sunday, April 16). Even small fires can quickly get out of control under these conditions. As a result, outside burning of ANY nature is discouraged and not recommended. The public is urged to refrain from burning anything outside until conditions improve. That will not be until first of next week as a system bringing rainfall is expected late Sunday night and the majority of Monday.

Numerous citations have been issued in the listening area in the past 24 hours. Also, at least two have been arrested for arson in the last day.

If you see suspicious activity or observe someone deliberately setting fire to a wooded area in a criminal nature, call 911.
