The Tennessee Department of Corrections says a minimum-security inmate from Knox County was captured in Cumberland County today after leaving a work detail in Nashville. Officers say Adam Williams left his community-service crew at the James K. Polk Building while loading items from the structure into a moving truck. Williams was then seen getting into a pickup truck that had been left running near the moving van. A Cumberland County deputy spotted the truck Williams was in on I-40 around the 315 mile marker. Williams then led authorities on a chase reaching speeds of up to 120 miles per hour. Williams left the interstate and the chase ended in Deer Creek where he left the truck and ran on foot. He was captured a short time later. Williams was being housed in prison on a five-year sentence for burglary and theft of property in Knox County. His sentence was set to expire in 2022.
