SEE THE TITAN I MISSILE…IN GEORGIA

This massive missile monument is no model built to scale, nor is it a replica built to give you a sense of what it might be like to see “the real thing”. No, this Titan I missile IS the real thing.

Not wanting to simply honor the United States Air Force with a plaque or an artful statue, the city of Cordele and the Rotary Club therein made it their mission to obtain an actual missile to proudly display in their town. And they succeeded.

The plaque reads, in part:

“The Rotary Club of Cordele initiated this project, a dream of its President, John S. Pate, Jr. The dream became reality when Confederate Air Force Pad No. I was christened July 17, 1969”.
The Titan was donated to the Cordele Rotary Club by the Federal Government. The Rotary donated it to Cordele and Crisp County.

Know Before You Go

Take Exit 101 on Interstate 75 in Georgia – the missile is located immediately to the west of the interstate next to a gas station and a Krystal
