STATE HO– USE COMMITTEE SAYS “NO” TO IMMIGRANT COLLEGE TUITION PROPOSAL
A bill that would allow the children of illegal immigrants in Tennessee to have reduced college tuition fees has been shot down by a State House Committee. The proposal has been a highly controversial one in light of President Trump’s own immigration proposals including building a wall between Mexico and the United States. Sponsors of the legislation said that it would improve college enrollment of Hispanics and help to build the state’s economy. It was the third time such a bill has been proposed.
