CONVICTED FELON FOUND WITH HANDGUN IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY TRAFFIC STOP

A man with a lengthy criminal history faces several charges by Cumberland County Deputies after he refused to stop his vehicle. Officers saw the Chevy Blazer traveling east on Highway 70 East with sparks coming from a rear wheel as if it was riding on the rim. When deputies activated their blue lights, the vehicle, driven by 46-year-old Edd Junior Sherrill, continued on to Highland Lane where the vehicle later turned in to a driveway and stopped. Sherrill was discovered to be driving on a revoked license. A loaded .22 handgun was also found in his back pocket. A computer check revealed that Sherrill was a convicted felon with an outstanding warrant on a handgun violation out of Bradley County.
