LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST CITY OF HARRIMAN AND POLICE CHIEF

A lawsuit has been filed against Harriman Police Chief Kenny Humphrey and the City of Harriman by a man who claims Humphrey attacked him at Swifty’s Atomic Bar and Grill in Oak Ridge over a month ago.

The report states two men said Humphrey berated them for being gang members because they were wearing biker clothing. The establishment owner then escorted an intoxicated Humphrey out of the bar. In the parking lot, Humphrey supposedly grabbed Joshua Bridges by the neck.

Knoxville attorney Michael S. Shipwash filed the paperwork in federal court on behalf of Bridges. The lawsuit is seeking $1.5 million in damages.

Last month, Harriman City Manager Kevin Helms placed Humphrey on desk duty, pending the outcome of the incident.
