MAN ALLEGEDLY THREATENED DEPUTIES WITH KNIFE

A Smithville, Tennessee man was arrested after threatening Dekalb County deputies with knives. Officers say 39-year-old Jeremy Austin Scruggs was charged with aggravated assault and resisting stop, frisk, halt, arrest or search. Deputies were called to a home on Highland Avenue on a report of a man with a knife. Deputies found Scruggs in an outbuilding with a knife in each hand. After officers asked him to drop the knives, he allegedly charged at them. Deputies used a taser to stop Scruggs and detained him. Scruggs’ will make his first court appearance September 14, 2017.
