Several Crossville residents turned out to watch two new City Council Members take the oath of office Monday evening. Past council member and former city mayor JH Graham and newcomer Scott Shanks were sworn in by Municipal Judge Ivy Gardner in a 30 minute ceremony held in the council’s chambers at City Hall. Afterward Graham said that he felt that it was his responsibility to make change and to make life better for the citizens of Crossville. Shanks mirrored those sentiments and stated that he was looking forward to have the people “keep him in line.” City Mayor James Mayberry said that his past two years on the council was “quite a learning experience” and that while it’s been his first venture into politics, he really “did not care for politics.”
