TWO ACCIDENTS IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY DUE TO ICY INTERSTATE 40
Roadways in areas of Cumberland County were icy enough to cancel school Wednesday morning and areas of I-40 were just as icy causing two accidents, one of which closed down the interstate for hours. According to reports, the first accident occurred around 2:30 AM when a truck traveling westbound between mile markers 334 and 332 hit black ice and losing control. The driver, a 44-year-old male, was taken to Cumberland Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. That wreck shutdown the interstate and had authorities redirecting traffic for hours. A second accident was reported around 11 AM in the eastbound lane of the interstate in the same area when a truck flipped into the median.
